A penetration test, also known as a pen test, is a method of evaluating the security of a computer system, network, or application by simulating an attack from a malicious source. The goal of a penetration test is to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses that could be exploited by attackers to gain unauthorized access to a system, steal sensitive data, or cause other forms of damage.

Penetration Test

During a penetration test, a trained security professional, known as a penetration tester, uses a variety of tools and techniques to attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in the target system. This could include attempts to gain access through password guessing or cracking, SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and other attack methods. The results of the test are then analyzed to determine the overall security posture of the target system, and to identify any areas that need to be improved.

Penetration Test

Penetration testing is an important part of a comprehensive security strategy, and can help organizations to identify and mitigate potential security risks before they can be exploited by attackers.

Penetration Test

Penetration tests are also part of the Best Practices indicated by the TPN+ program.
